I've emailed the plans to the fire safety specialist and spoken to the electrician so they can speak to the fire safety people ahead of Monday too. It would be good to draw in what we know of already which I think is the fire detectors and the 'in case of emergency' break the glass box, which we can augment afterwards.

Each fire detector spans a radius of 4m.

@iteles this question should in no way delay the progress of the attic electrical installation.

👍 This is what I told him yesterday (that we can adapt them later if needed, the important thing is to have an electricity point there), noting that all the other doors also had 220V plugs next to them.

For now, the wires are all in place for the attic electrical plan and waiting for the walls to go in - this will be done once we have final confirmation of the fire safety plan this week (opening separate issue on this).

There are two or three that have been ‘proposed’ to be moved to the plasterboard sections of the wall so as not to cut through brick (not all) and I will update this in the plan for discussion. These can still be moved without issue.

Keeping this issue open until I have done this so we can contain discussion on any changes to this issue.

After purchasing the lights for the attic, #47 we determined that only one ceiling light was needed in the attic rooms otherwise it would be too bright at night (as there will be wardrobe lights and bedside table lights as well.

Other than that, no changes made thanks to how comprehensive the plan was!

This isn't a question of saving face, we're paying for the work whether we use it or not and he was there when we trialled out the lights. In the short term, covering the holes won't cost anything extra

It isn't really about cost, it's about what makes sense. The smaller room certainly doesn't need a second light, but the two bigger ones might - we can trial them on Monday (2 in one room).

Our conclusion was that two lights would be needed to prevent very dark corners in the bigger rooms. We'll confirm everything is in place tomorrow.

As we discussed, aside from the placement of the lights (I asked about embedding them into the ceiling) and the electrical plugs in the center of the beds, this is exactly as I had envisioned as well. Thank you for putting the time in to draw it out!

@iteles in light of our fire-safety/security walk-around with Marcio yesterday,
do you feel it's prudent to add the locations of smoke/heat detectors, alarm/extinguisher points
and emergency lighting to the Attic Electrical Plan?

Note: our architects have come back & said they are not officially qualified to sign off on fire safety plans so the fire safety guy has said he will find someone else.

This doesn't void that it would be useful to put the main things in place on a plan before Monday's work begins 👍

@nelsonic I’m at ‘home’ with the electrician and he is asking us to confirm whether the electrical outlets next to the doors are 220V ones like the others in the house (because most of the electric doors he has worked with require a low voltage) please!
Sadly I haven’t done enough research into this to know enough about how they’ll function 🤦🏻‍♀️

@iteles are we going to hide the other wiring (for the unused lights)?

It might be cheaper to just pay for the other 2 lights (€98) that way the people in the bigger rooms at least have the <option> of more light if they want it. (and save face with the Electrician who had to put in the work for the extra electrical lines for the 2nd lights in bigger rooms... 🤔)
