I'm 90% sure this is caused to a thread timing out. This should be a simple
fix. The fix will be included in v0.4
The Perl API should work against with the java-gearman-service unless is uses
some nonstandard protocol (The standard protocol is defined at
http://gearman.org/?id=protocol).
Have you been able to get the Perl worker/client working with the C server?

Thanks for your quick answer.
I tried the Perl API with the gearman C server (v0.17) few months ago.
I only made some basic tests (echo and addition) and it worked.
My project has to run under windows which forces me to setup a cygwin
environment to make the C server working. I don't want to include cygwin in my
software package distribution. This is why I'm very interested by your project.
The first Gearman server was written in Perl, so I guess that the protocol has
been built from it. I hope the protocol didn't change since the C
implementation.
Thank you for your work !

I see the same behavior on GNU/Linux and Ubuntu. Briefly see the server
listening on port 4730, then it dies with no message.

I'm hoping to get v0.4 out tonight. It address the issue with the server
halting after 60 seconds of inactivity. On its release, I'm going to close this
issue.
If you'd like me to look into the compatibility issue with the Perl API, could
you please create a new issue. A little packet sniffing will determine of
there's an issue.
Thanks
