Thanks for this hint.
We're using GSTREAMER_1_0_ROOT_X86_64 to find gst, in
node-gstreamer-superficial/binding.gyp

... since i could see the same fix in a fork of this project, i went ahead and added the _MSVC.
bb8feb7 and release 1.7.3

I'm having this same issue, and I'm not quite sure what's happening.
I have the environment variable GSTREAMER_1_0_ROOT_MSVC_X86_64 set to C:\gstreamer\1.0\msvc_x86_64\ and it's not finding it.

I'm going to keep digging, and will update this when I figure it out.

Update: I resolved this.
It was a mixture of:
- my negligence of the presence/absence of "MSVC" in the path portion of my (correctly named) environment variable
- The newly-installed GStreamer environment variables not being available in my current terminal session.
