Could you please clarify what kind of test you were running. Was it a Selenium-based test? If so, was Selenium running? There is a known issue with screenshots silently failing if Selenium is not running.

And on topic: @samtuke are you running a terminal test (headless browser)?

I have my tests working under Linux.

I start selenium using this: export DISPLAY=:10; java -Dwebdriver.chrome.driver=/usr/bin/chromedriver -jar selenium-server-standalone-3.12.0.jar &

The display value comes from Xvfb (sudo apt-get -y install xvfb gtk2-engines-pixbuf)
You can get the display name using ps -Af | grep xvfb, after you run Xvfb obviously, please Google the apt-get command to get the tutorial

Google chrome must be installed (and chromedriver), because Firefox 60 and geckodriver are failing to find the elements
