The register_activation_hook does not work in a class called by the 'plugins_leaded' hook. See https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_activation_hook.
My commit is one option. The other would be to not call the class in the plugins_loader hook. This might be better as it would be easier to see if the core plugin is loaded before running other plugins.

Okay. I'm going to close this pull request. See if the changes I made to the activation and deactivation hooks do what you need them to do.
