Out of curiosity - what is this issue about? what kind of crashing we mean here?

You can detect certain values by triggering divide by zero exceptions: For example if a query crashes for 1 / (500 - x) then it means x=500.

This issue is now obsolete. The original roadmap included support for more complex expressions, which, as Edon exemplified above, could crash on certain inputs, creating side-channel attacks. The arguments for the currently supported generalization functions are heavily restricted, so they can't throw exceptions in any of the allowed usage scenarios.
