Do you suspect such an issue is related directly to the compiler? Perhaps there's something with Diablo's code instead? I think tracing the root causes of these things can help projects like Devilutionx because you can't be too sure if the outdated code has something not likeable to modern tools.

My brother got this when linking to the newest version of the DX api, after switching to the older one it worked correctly.
