For me, this is ok now, but I haven't tested the release procedure on *nix systems (the distribute target in the makefile). So this might be worth to test on your side. If there are any problems, I'm happy to help.

A colleague notified me, that for windows install from the repo, the flawfinder.1.gz
needs to be created manually first.
After that pip install .
works as expected:
python -m gzip flawfinder.1
pip install .
