I figured it out, when using MongoAtlas you have to pass an empty auth object in the options. So you code looks like new msm(connectionURL, {auth: {}});

I update the code of DB connexion and fix this issue, so you not obligated anymore to force the auth option to empty object.

Can you try the last version (2.1.6) and tell me if is fix for you ?
