Does this bug occur when using the Non-WaveRT version, too?

when installing non-waveRT I receive "No audio device installed" on volume
control
panel, yet in the devices list I see the spdif interface and speakers.

oh yeah, that's a bug of Windows - you have to uninstall the soundcard from the
device manager while having checked the item for removing the drivers in the
confirmation dialog. then you have to scan for new hardware, and if a driver is
found and installed, you have to repeat the process until the system runs out
of
drivers to install - then the non-WaveRT version installs properly.
This is pretty annoying and I plan to implement this procedure into the
installer
sometime soon.

Ok, I went through and deleted all drivers then put in 1.2.1 non-waveRT.

I can confirm that this issue does NOT in fact occur with the non-waveRT
version.
Strange!

thanks for confirming this. what's the exact version of PowerDVD you are using?
also, what movie did you try, and what kind of audio track does it have?

PowerDVD.EXE shows version 7.3.4023.0 (the latest version in the 7 series, no
updates
are available to me)

I tried several movies. The movie I first tried was Chronicles of Narnia Lion
Witch
and Wardrobe. The disc would 'hang' for a bit when loading, then play video
with no
audio, as I mentioned. It did this on the previews, which I think only output
in
stereo.

For the movie itself, I tried using Dolby Digital 5.1. No sound came out. I
then
tried to use PowerDVD's "mixing" feature to mix to AC3 (dolby digital) - No
sound
there either, nor with the DTS.

For good measure, I tried National Treasure 1 and 2 (also Disney Movies) and
and V
for Vendetta. All of them experienced the same initial 'hang' followed by no
audio.

Hope this helps :) Thanks for your continued work on this driver!

ok, I've been testing a bit and the downmixing to SPDIF compatible DTS/AC3 is
indeed
buggy at best in version 7.3 - I haven't been able to get solid results.
Version 8
however seems to fix some things: the downmixing works hassle-free with it, so
I
guess it's a problem of PowerDVD in the first place.
