Could we not commit them into the codebase? All mutations can be tracked and we could discuss them during the PRs.

I was thinking of this, maps at the minute are mutable by anyone with a link, if we created a directory of maps, we might need to make them immutable/readonly.

Would it be worth surfacing these via the UI/new page on the website - like a directory of maps that could be 'loaded'

Currently, I'm saving maps as .wmap files in the codebases I'm working on. (Manually loading them by copy+pasting the contents to the tool)

Way out of the scope of this issue, but I could start taking a look into how we could load in some text files and render them.
