I could make the fruit re-grow with an LBM I think.

That looks like a very nice way to do it.
I added lbm's to make fruit grow whenever leaves are loaded.
They're not as frequent and don't grow in clusters like when they are first generated, but I'm thinking that might be a good thing. If not I could just make them grow in clusters.
