There are other integrations failing as well if I look at the log, something wrong with package installing mechanism it seems.
I just upgraded two of my blue's and they work fine, I suggest to go back to a backup and see what else failed before garmin connect, maybe another integration or config broke something

Hello cyberjunky,
you where correct. https://github.com/ollo69/ha-smartthinq-sensors/issues/693 was fixed and now GARMIN is also working.
Sorry for the troubles, but all is well now.
Regards from Germany,
Robert

cyberjunky avatar cyberjunky commented on September 6, 2024

It was failing before Garmin in the log you posted.. the log was full of other non Garmin related errors. The updates are minor so it seems restarting your ha triggers something..

I tried to uninstall GARMIN, it was not possible. Restarted HA in safe mode and it was possible to uninstall the integration. I then uninstalled GARMIN via HACS. Restarted HA and reinstalled GARMIN, tried to add the integration, can't.

When I uninstall GARMIN, I assume, that not all files are removed. I would like to uninstall GARMIN again and then delete any files that are left behind. Where do I find them? I can google how to get to the directories / files, as I am not firm with TERMINAL.

Even worse! After reinstalling GARMIN, LQ does not work anymore and TANKERKÖNIG also does not...

from home-assistant-garmin_connect.

RobertoCravallo avatar RobertoCravallo commented on September 6, 2024

.. forgot to mention the RADIO BROWSER. That also does not work anymore after installing GARMIN.

Reverted to 2024.2.1 deleted GARMIN, updated to 2024.2.2 and all 3 others are back to functional. Not sure, but if I install one piece of software and three others break, I am assuming the just installed software is loading / installing something fishy.

cyberjunky avatar cyberjunky commented on September 6, 2024

Ok. I just upgraded my production Yellow from 2024.2.1 to 2024.2.2 and all is still working here. Garmin also works on beta channel. Changes between 2014.2.0-> 2024.2.2 are not that big and not directly related to Garmin but to other integrations.
This doesn't mean there can be a conflict, but in the years developing this I have never seen one.
So I need more information, lets start with a logfile?

from home-assistant-garmin_connect.

cyberjunky avatar cyberjunky commented on September 6, 2024

Also, the 500 error is a big one, can you try to login with your account on the garmin connect website, do you get any license or screens you have to agree to, if so do, and don't have MFA enabled?

from home-assistant-garmin_connect.

RobertoCravallo avatar RobertoCravallo commented on September 6, 2024

I logged into CONNECT without a problem. No message related to licensing etc., just "awards".

Where can I get a logfile for you? I am retired (old guy) and gladly will invest my time to track this down!

Where on HA are the GARMIN files located. Want to delete everything thats in there....

Go to Settings -> Devices -> Garmin Connect (if you suceed to install and configure it...
Then click here:

Then, or otherwise go to Settings -> System -> Logs to see log, and copy paste errors (filter out any private info you don't want to share)

You have a lot of errors already in the logs, I would suggest to fix those nonetheless, as they can break random stuff.
When do you get the error? When you try to login while adding the garmin integration, or earlier? The logfile (without the debug enabled) might still contain useful info after trying this

"You have a lot of errors already in the logs, I would suggest to fix those nonetheless, " I will have to check up on those, but I am just a user... (but willing to learn).

I get the 500 error (RADIO Browser by the way also) as soon as I try to add the integration.

RobertoCravallo avatar RobertoCravallo commented on September 6, 2024

Dear cyberjunky,
I am pretty sure now, that it is not GARMIN causing the problems. New HA VM restored from back-up is fine, until I boot it. So something gets written back from the back-up that breaks the HA installation somehow. How am I ever going to find this?

from home-assistant-garmin_connect.

cyberjunky avatar cyberjunky commented on September 6, 2024

There are several of these breaking errors in the log, for multiple packages, with the result that the needed underlaying libraries cannot be installed and the integration(s) fail to install.
[AttributeError: module 'pkgutil' has no attribute 'ImpImporter'. Did you mean: 'zipimporter'?](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/77364550/attributeerror-module-pkgutil-has-no-attribute-impimporter-did-you-mean)

If you google that those errors are related to Python 3.12 (which 2024 is started to use) this should not be an issue with Garmin, or most other integrations, but it could be that one or more of them (or backup/ha itself) installs an older version of a tools called setuptools. This may cause these issues, so HA needs to be completely uptodate and no integration may downgrade setuptools or other python setup ralated tools. I know this issue was present and fixed in older builds of HA, but maybe there is still a bug hidden somewhere.

RobertoCravallo avatar RobertoCravallo commented on September 6, 2024

I will create a new VM (thank you again PROXMOX) and do a partial restore without the HACS (if that is possible). Lets see what happens. And then I will start adding HACS one after the other and restarting HA until it blows.

from home-assistant-garmin_connect.

RobertoCravallo avatar RobertoCravallo commented on September 6, 2024

Yea, I found the culprit, it is the SOLARFOCUS (https://github.com/LavermanJJ/home-assistant-solarfocus) integration that blows my HA out of the water!! Installing via HACS and restart, no problem. The problem shows its ugly face, as soon as the integration is configured and HA restarts. Installed in a new HA one integration at a time until SOLARFOCUS caused the "now famous" error.

Just to let you know!!!!

PS: Sorry for bothering you with this!!!!

from home-assistant-garmin_connect.

cyberjunky avatar cyberjunky commented on September 6, 2024

Good, hopefully they fix it, I went through the code/requirements real quick and didn't find any weird thing, but it was a quick check.

from home-assistant-garmin_connect.

RobertoCravallo avatar RobertoCravallo commented on September 6, 2024

For your information:

I just installed a new HA VM under PROXMOX. From my running system I deinstalled SOLARFOCUS and made a back-up. Installed the back-up in the new VM HA and everything is fine. So I am very sure the problem lies with SOLARFOCUS.
