I guess it is intentional to infer the schema from the first ten rows. I would like to make the following changes..
- Make
excerptSizea read option. The default can be ten. This option would only apply wheninferSchemais true - Make parsing more permissive so that if a number is expected but it's a string value that cannot be parsed as a number, set it to
NaN
from spark-excel.

Hi @davidw76,
that's a good idea! I intended to make the excerptSize configurable, but forgot about it in the end...
So, if you want to create a PR, I'd be happy to review and release it.
