Can't use RCON, says "Unable to connect to remote server" about csgo-server-launcher HOT 1 CLOSED

Found the solution. The issue is that the default config doesn't tell the game to listen on the UDP port which rcon depends on. So you have to add -ip 0.0.0.0 in the config.

You can set it in your EXTRAPARAMS like so:

EXTRAPARAMS="-nohltv +sv_pure 0 +game_type 0 +game_mode 0 +mapgroup mg_active +map de_dust2 -ip 0.0.0.0"

And it should work. But before this, do make sure your UDP port listens on 27015. Your output for netstat -tulnp | grep 27015 should be:

tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:27015           0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      92423/./srcds_linux
udp        0      0 0.0.0.0:27015           0.0.0.0:*                           92423/./srcds_linux
