I'll investigate.

Sorry, I didn't include a fix for your issue in my latest release. But I actually tested it on Mint 19.1 and couldn't reproduce this problem: All applications were shown. Qomui looks for .desktop-files in the following directories:

  • /home/$user/.local/share/applications
  • /usr/share/applications
  • /usr/local/share/applications

Can you tell me, if the applications that are missing put their desktop files in other directories? How did you install those applications?

As a workaround you can run any application/command in bypass mode via terminal:
cgexec -g net_cls:bypass_qomui $cmd

Hi. Thank you for taking the time to investigate my issue.

The applications came pre-installed with the OS (besides Skype, for which I used the Deb installer from their website).
I can see the dekstop files of all applications in /usr/share/applications.

After your reply I tried to reproduce the issue on a live USB, and there were more applications available, but many were still missing (example: Rhythmbox, VLC, Skype).

Strange, Qomui scans this folder. Would you be able to let me see one of those desktop files via attachment to this issue or pastebin? I'd prefer VLC. That'd be great for testing. I suspect that Qomui fails to parse those files properly and I'd like to find out why.

Hi, thank you again for your interest in the issue.
I opened the VLC desktop file in /usr/share/applications and pasted its content on pastebin. I've never done this before, and I hope I did it correctly.

Thanks for sharing the file! But I couldn't find any issues with it. Qomui parsed it correctly, so I have to dig deeper.

It took me some time to make a new release, but I didn't forget about your issue. While I still don't quite understand why some applications wouldn't appear in the list, I have included some additional log messages. Could you set logging to debug (via the log tab), add applications for bypass and share the log with me? The log should now list all applications found on your system and whether they were added or why parsing them failed.
