Ref to this comment it seems like a good idea to toggle the should-colorize-auto-detection-by-env via a feature flag (always or never), so that lib consumer would be able to take control of this behavior.
Also, exposing setters on this behavior could help

The winning spec seems to becomes http://bixense.com/clicolors/ which is already implemented by some popular softwares.

I realize this may feel unecessary, but it seems with the infrastructure already there for CLICOLOR
, this addition would likely be quite small. I will open a PR with the suggested change.
