Sounds a lot like this widget: https://github.com/swingley/zoomto-widget

from cmv-app.

Any luck with incorporating the above scenario. I am trying to do something similar. Actually attempting to add the ability to be able to select schools from a dropdown list via a rest endpoint, but having issues connecting the html and javascript. My functions don't seem to be recognized, even though the code works with another page I wrote.

Can you explain this functionality or provide a link to a working sample? If its something that would be useful to many users we can look at making it part of the viewer.

Hi David, thanks for inquiring, basically I would like to have a widget that allows a user to select from a dropdown list different fields from a rest endpoint using the query task, For example, I can change the rest endpoint to add the names of schools to the DDL or maybe police stations, and the user can just select the attribute from the DDL and it automatically zooms to the location. I have not been able to successfully implement a DDL widget using the configurable viewer JSAPI template which uses AMD. As an example, there was a sample in JS samples page where they used state names and you selected the state and it would zoom after selecting. Not sure if this something other developers can use.

Or maybe down the road, the ability to search layers where they can select the Park layer thus begin to enter the names of park and it begins to auto fill. I've seen this in a Flex application
Thanks.

Hi David,

I am just starting to get my feet wet with the JSAPI and was wondering if you would be willing to illustrate the steps required to add this widget (https://github.com/swingley/zoomto-widget)
into your template? I really appreciate the work you have done!

Thanks
