We have successfully used 8 in us-east-1. Did you have other activities going on within the account?

I did add a story in our icebox to add throttle functionality to the AWS CPI, but I think reducing the default in bosh-cloudfoundry is also a good idea. We use 3 in our AWS template.

@gabis : No not much going on except for the whole Bootstrap etc. Pretty consistent behaviour too.

@drnic : Can I easily hook this into the cloudfoundry-bosh or would that just be mayhem because of all the v2 stuff going on? Would be nice to test before closing. :)

The change is in HEAD and has been tested with creation of 200 VMs and a parallelism of 32.

The reason for the high number of requests is the constant "are you done yet?" we have to do since there are no callbacks.

It is doing an exponential back off now plus that it is catching the RequestLimitExeeded and trying again when that happens.

Martin, does this fix require a new micro stemcell (newer than 0.8.1), new
base stemcell (newer than 0.7.0) or new bosh deployer (newer than 1.4.1)?
My guess is just a new micro stemcell (bosh-bootstrap deploy
--edge-stemcell --edge-deployer).

This will be in the next release. You will need a new micro/regular stemcell and an updated deployer gem.
