Hey drnic,
Which version of the gems are you using. We recently changed the micro plugin to use SSL to talk to the agent. At the same time we changed the agent to accept SSL connections. If you use a newer gem with an other stemcell (or vice versa) you have problems. You'll need to use gem > 1.5.0.pre.480 and micro bosh stemcell ami-dee080b7 (current latest).
If you still have the issue with the latest please let us know.

The bugs came in for v480 (that's what i see from their stacktraces above).

Try with a new micro stemcell. You're using a micro stemcell where the agent doesn't speak SSL. The newer ones do.
