Please try again after some time. Maybe the Pinboard API was not responsive. If the problem persists, I can look into this.
However, I just tried logging in with the add-on and the current Firefox, and it works for me.

You can check whether the API works by entering https://api.pinboard.in/v1/user/api_token/?auth_token=user:TOKEN in the address bar of the browser. You should get the token back as result, if you replace user:TOKEN with your API token.

Ah, crikey, I was attempting to login with just the token part, not the entire user:token string. Sorry for the noise.
