In 30 days, Twitter will be blocking access to TweetDeck unless you pay for "verification". https://twitter.com/twittersupport/status/1675990712297443330

I might release a final update that just displays an error message explaining the app is dead.

If someone wants to use the app for the Preview, they could still download an older version and have basically no functionality except for having a separate browser with an icon for TweetDeck, but it will forever stay on outdated Chromium with whatever security vulnerabilities and other issues will be discovered.

According to some sources, Twitter has killed several API 1.1 endpoints and will be migrating everyone to the TweetDeck Preview which doesn't work with TweetDuck. Since they broke the old API, there's no point in freezing TweetDeck to the old version to block the Preview, since all historical versions are now broken.

The broken columns will not be fixed, and once the Preview is rolled out globally TweetDuck will stop working.

Just an update, TweetDuck works again if you opt out of the new TweetDeck preview. Looks like the old API is now accessible again but for how long who knows.

I will be releasing a final update with a warning message on launch. I have also opened #360 as the final announcement issue, so it wouldn't be buried at the end of an existing one.

Having the same problem all my lists are just spinning wheels except HOME. It may have to do with the rate limit thing that moron Elon Musk implemented. Any solutions, please post here.

jlitz avatar jlitz commented on September 22, 2024

Musk also cracked down on API usage requiring big fee. That may be the cause.

scarfa avatar scarfa commented on September 22, 2024

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think TweetDuck uses the API, it may be scraping the Twitter website. TweetDeck seems to be working fine though.

jlitz avatar jlitz commented on September 22, 2024

i just got a tweetdeck message you are rate limited please wait lol

from tweetduck.

scarfa avatar scarfa commented on September 22, 2024

Okay I'm rate limited too on TweetDeck lol.

chylex avatar chylex commented on September 22, 2024

TweetDeck/Duck use Twitter's own special API token, but rate limits are still bound to your user account.

Twitter is dead for me already. I started to use Mastodon for personal purposes. If works neat it will be implemented as well in my work.
Well, this was a long and cool ride, but yeah... Musk bought out Twitter to destroy it.
Thanks a lot for such amazing job with TweetDuck!

My favorite feature was collections, which now seem to be gone. Is there any way to get them back, either using TweetDuck or TweetDeck or some other client?

jlitz avatar jlitz commented on September 22, 2024

JohnChristofolakos avatar JohnChristofolakos commented on September 22, 2024

Thanks for the reply. Yep, that page is how collections used to work, but none of that is available now on either UI for me. Maybe you need to be verified?

jlitz avatar jlitz commented on September 22, 2024

i dont know still trying to figure out how to make a list and waiting for next you exceded your limit message --- hopefully Musk allows tweetduck back in

from tweetduck.

jlitz avatar jlitz commented on September 22, 2024

scarfa avatar scarfa commented on September 22, 2024

I think it's b/c ppl were complaining the TweetDeck preview was missing features that power users needed, like managing an account with multiple users.
