For posterity - and because I figured out what I was misunderstanding. The number listed beside the word Deposit in the menu represents the number of the deposit slip ID in the database. It does not list the total number of deposits in the system. For some reason, this number will not always align with the number that "edit deposit slip" is assigned to -- but simply changing the number in the address bar to the number of the deposit slip ID that you want will take you to that slip to edit it.
