Sorry - haven't seen this cross my email yet. These are ever-evolving starter kits, not finished products, so there will likely be more bugs, as well as more updates to them. The version that is posted up there now (updated 4/13/2012) should address this issue as we've had a bunch of students work through this starter kit and successfully publish. Download the latest version from there, or even the not-yet-fully-published version from https://github.com/chriskoenig/windows-Phone-Starter-Kit-for-RSS/ and move your settings.xml over. If you customized the starter kit, the code you're looking for can be found in both the App.xaml.cs and the MainView.xaml.cs related to the IsNetworkAvailable property. It's not a trivial code change, so you may need to re-apply some of your customizations.

OK - Similar deal to the RSS kit. THere was an update on 4/12 here as well to deal with some localization issues, but it seems that the code for IsNetworkAvailable is also there. I verified that it doesn't crash, but is arguably not very elegant in how it handles the missing network. Please download the latest version and search the code for GetIsNetworkAvailable. I will make a note to try to improve the way the app responds when the network is not missing, but if you have code to contribute, that would be awesome!
