In the newest versions of Flick Shoot and Flick Soccer, the player can make the ball curve to the side after getting it off the ground with one swipe. Additional swipes after the initial swipe are allowed but not required to make the ball change direction.

When kicking the soccer ball towards the goal post, many times the ball will go right through the goal post. However, I have the right collision bitmasks set. From these stackoverflow questions, 1 and 2, it seems that iOS SceneKit is not good at detecting collisions with a fast object involved. Since I don't want to adjust the timeStep value, I will try experimenting with contact bit masks instead.
