Yep, letting the code use the PORT exposed by Heroku at process.env.PORT fixed it. I've opened a PR with this change

It may be because Heroku exposes a dynamic port on process.env.PORT, and so, as the code doesn't use this value, it's not possible for it to run on Heroku. I wonder if it would be fine to change the port binding to:
