I also thought maybe because I used protonup-qt and nix-gaming before that I might have an issue because I'm not using the module that installs proton-ge-custom.

So I tried with:

chaotic.steam.extraCompatPackages = with pkgs.inputs.chaotic; [  proton-ge-custom ];`.

Still doesn't seem to work though.

If you see the latencyflex's layer in vulkaninfo, then this package is working, can you check it?

In my case, I have it in environment.systemPackages, that in turn adds it to /run/current-system/sw/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/latencyflex.json, this "share" folder is listed in my $XDG_DATA_DIRS, and vulkan-loader searches it this way...
