Update: Apparently it happens in recent versions too. I tested with aws-cli and python clients on a ceph cluster v16, and still newly created buckets had empty usage objects "usage": {}; So I was wrong about buckets being old and it should happen more frequently. Since all Usage fields are pointers, you should either check one of its fields like size_kb or something, which is a little smelly, or check every field being null before using it and getting a null pointer exception. Is there any obvious way to do this that I'm missing?
