I agree that now for the project it is not wise to use catalogueoflife.org It is probabaly bettter to use www.col.plus so I would definietly go for api.col.plus and names.col.plus for the period of the project.
Using different domains may help if the nomenclator and the taxonmic pieces need to be branded differently. This may be the preferred situation, depending on what exactly is called CoL in the future.

For the CoL+ project period col.plus will be used.
http://catalogue.life/ has also been reserved as a potential replacement for the rather long catalogueoflife.org domain if wanted.
