I get the same error message, but it does not exit for me with an error code. it seems to complete, just takes a bit to finish. As for outcome, not visible issues to be hones beyond the error message.

I uninstalled xdelta3, remove the delta binaries, and reconstructed the repos, and everything works. It seems repoctl doesn't support packages' deltas.
It's not a requirement for me. It can be indicated that repoctl doesn't support it, and that's it.

So, I got the output fixed in the latest development branch. The useless output Error: exit status 1
is replaced with the output of the failed command. In the update case, I call repo-add
in the background for each package. So perhaps that command is failing.
I'd like to investigate this problem when I have time. So I'm reopening it for now.

Probably not worth the effort as it is being dropped from pacman https://git.archlinux.org/pacman.git/commit/?id=9adb0d5b37df7ca668e23877e85431dabeea005e

Thanks for the pointer! I think I'll close this issue then. If, despite support being dropped from repo-add, errors still occur, please re-open this issue.
