@christian-konrad we should clarify a few things.

This project doesn't use the Tasklist APIs, correct. Historically, it works differently.

But, the fact that it doesn't use the Tasklist API doesn't mean the project is outdated.

Indeed, it doesn't support the same features as Camunda Tasklist. Especially, the new native user tasks with Camunda 8.5 are not supported.

In general, I recommend using Camunda Tasklist instead. However, some users might see value in this project, at least for now.

I agree, outdated is probably not the accurate term - we just need to make sure that net new users do not consider this as a starting point. Let me change the note to a hint that this is for advanced users, and does not support the most recent user task type

@christian-konrad thank you for your understanding. 👍

I updated the README once more and marked the project as deprecated. Why? I as the maintainer don't plan to continue working actively on the project.

I'm new to the Camunda community and I've been looking into Camunda 8 and the free solutions that go with it for several days.

Will this project really be outdated with this new Zeebe REST API?
Because in the documentation, for example in terms of APIs, you'll still have to use the Tasklist API to retrieve forms, for example.

Hi @KontainPluton ! This particular repository was already outdated as it does not use any of the APIs, instead it requires to implement custom job workers in Java.

Because in the documentation, for example in terms of APIs, you'll still have to use the Tasklist API to retrieve forms, for example.

This is correct! The Tasklist API must still be used to query tasks and retrieve forms. The Zeebe API is to be used to run task operations. In the next version (8.6), also other endpoints will be in the Zeebe API, however the Tasklist API will be continued until 8.8 (for 1.5 more years) to make it easy to move to the new endpoints.

A better starting point is the new Tasklist tutorial:
