Un/reinstalling atom along with many packages I require resolved my issue.
Set me back about an hour, but this was the only solution I could come up with.
Feel free to close this.

Also experiencing this issue as of this morning :-(
I was able to rollback and restore functionality using the following commands:
apm uninstall atom-monokai
apm install [email protected]

Just tested 0.10.8 with Atom 1.9.3, this issue is still present. Was only able to resolve by rolling back to 0.10.4

Isn't there also a Atom 1.15.0 version for Linux? Atom 1.13.0 had some beaking changes, this is why the > 0.10.4 versions doesn't work anymore.

So there is :-P Updated Atom and now 0.10.8 works perfectly. This issue can probably be closed now :-)
