Hi @dobet! Did you see this (albeit short) section on using protovalidate with protoc? Note that there is no code generation for protovalidate as the libraries handle constructing validation logic at runtime.
Let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi, when I run go get github.com/bufbuild/protovalidate-go I have an issue, I have buf.build in my vendor folder, but there is no
protovalidate/proto/protovalidate folder with validate.proto in it. So, I thought about getting github.com/bufbuild/protovalidate, so I could use validate.proto from there, but I got
module declares its path as: github.com/envoyproxy/protoc-gen-validate
but was required as: github.com/bufbuild/protovalidate
What am I doing wrong?

If you need access to the proto files and you're not using buf, you'll need to manually vendor them. The go toolchain will not be able to resolve these dependencies for you (the proto files are not part of a Go project).

Thanks @nicksnyder, yes this is the same issue I'm having. How can we use it it with protoc? Just git clone the protovalidate repo into a vendor folder and reference it from there?

Yep! Since you're using Go, be sure not to use a folder named vendor
as it's treated special by the toolchain.
