yeah, I think we should be able to mix relative & absolute like this. To differentiate, we will just need to have good time formats. Relative time using + seems good. To make absolute clear, we could not allow users to enter time in ticks (which is epoch time since server started) but to only submit absolute times which are in wall-clock time format.
For testing, we will need to have a command to set the wall-clock time on the server.
Or is this all too much?

I don't know about wall-clock, since for us users are in fact programs.
It does look a little ambiguous for us humans, but I think it's straightforward for programs.
