To answer your questions:

  1. NXBT recognizes and enables use of an arbitrary controller through the web interface by using the JavaScript Gamepad API. So a typical workflow would be: Install NXBT with pip on the device that will sit near the Switch, start the webapp (sudo nxbt webapp), navigate to the browser page on the device or on another device on the same network, ensure that you've got a controller connected to the device with the browser tab open, use the controller on the Switch.
  2. Any controller that works with the Gamepad API will work with NXBT's webapp. If you want to test compatibility, this site works well for that.
  3. If you're asking about NXBT itself, unfortunately, emulating a controller over Bluetooth is the only format supported. If you're asking about which controllers are supported for use through NXBT, the answer is that most will work (Bluetooth or USB). Again, check the site above in your browser for compatibility. If it's detected on there then it will work with NXBT.
  4. You can connect as many controllers as you have Bluetooth adapters. This means that a single Raspberry Pi out-of-the-box, for instance, will only support emulation of one controller. You can, however, plug in more Bluetooth USB adapters (almost any cheap adapter off of Amazon will work) and more controllers will work. NXBT will take advantage of new USB Bluetooth adapters in real-time.

Hopefully this answers your questions. If not, let me know!
