write image to browser/client about node-webshot HOT 4 CLOSED

To output the image without a write to disk, you should pipe the output from webshot directly into the response. Using the flatiron framework, this would look something like:

var flatiron = require('flatiron')
  , app = flatiron.app
  , webshot = require('webshot');

app.use(flatiron.plugins.http);

app.router.get('/my-dynamic-image', function() {
  var self = this;
  webshot('google.com', function(err, renderStream) {
    renderStream.pipe(self.res);
  });
});

app.start(8888);

Visit localhost:8888/my-dynamic-image and you should be served a screenshot of the google.com.

Is it possible to do this with a PDF? I've tried with no success - but I'm not sure if its a technical limitation or something semantical I'm doing wrong...

Thanks. This indeed seems to work fine for me. Did not use Flatiron, but

renderStream.pipe(res);

works very well for me. This is much faster then first writing to disk and then serving the disk image.

I guess I really need to make some time to read up on Node...

@facultymatt Sadly as of now there's no way to stream screenshots as PDFs in phantom.
