I don't think a REPL for PHP should have implicit semi-colons, since that doesn't reflect the way the language works. I agree that it's convenient, but the implications of making the REPL act like some language that's approximately PHP would be messy... having to use \
on the end of lines, for example, if you want to wrap lines... that's not PHP. The idea of the REPL is to be able to explore PHP, including the syntax for things ;)
