Hi Ericzen,

Is the remote control daemon running?

Run

sudo service pifacercd status

You should see something like:

Remote control running pid 2657

Switch on DEBUG logging (See manual).

Stop the radio

Clear the log file

sudo rm /var/log/radio.log

Reboot the radio

Try using the remote control.

Send me the /var/log/radio.log file

Regards

Bob

Hi Ericzen,

That isn’t what I asked. Nor did you send me the information I asked for (log files etc)

I asked:

Is the remote control daemon running?

Run

sudo service pifacercd status

You should see something like:

Remote control running pid 2657

If not try

sudo service pifacercd start

If that still fails

Switch on DEBUG logging (See manual).

Stop the radio

Clear the log file

sudo rm /var/log/radio.log

Reboot the radio

Try using the remote control.

Send me the /var/log/radio.log file

I can only help you if you send me this information

Regards

Hello,

Thanks for your answer.

I've found where is the problem. Your sevice pifacercd used /home/pi/radio/piface_remote.py but i don't have this file in my directory.

How can i install it ?

Thanks for you help

Regards

Ericzen

PS : For the installation i used radiod_4.7_armhf.deb

from piradio.

ericzen avatar ericzen commented on August 11, 2024

So i tested to add manually piface_remote.py on my pi. when i started pifacercd, the pi shuted alone down.
If i stop pifacercd, nothing happen, radiod don't start. If i rename piface_remote.py and reboot, radiod start.
I think there is a problem with the deb file.
Can you compile a new one with all modifications for piface and send it me ?

bobrathbone avatar bobrathbone commented on August 11, 2024

Hi Ericzen,

I could not follow what you have done but the fault is in the select_daemon.sh program.

It is incorrectly setting up /etc/init.de/pifacercd with the wrong file name.

The file should be remote_control.py and not piface_remote.py (This was the old file name).

Edit /etc/init.d/pifacercd

Find the line

NAME=piface_remote.py

And change to

NAME=remote_control.py

Save the file

Restart the radio

Start the remote control with the following line

service pifacercd start

This will be corrected in the next release (5.0)

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards

Bob
