I can't reproduce the issue. The sample works as expected an i can't find any
hint that something is amiss in the implementation itself.

It seems strange not to reproduce the issue. Using Apple LLVM version 5.1
(clang-503.0.40) (based on LLVM 3.4svn) and muparserx 3.0.1, the following code
gives wrong results.
#include "mpParser.h"
using namespace std;
using namespace mup;
int main()
{
Value x = 1;
Value y = complex<double>(0,1);
cout << "x = " << x << "\n";
cout << "y = " << y << "\n";
x += y;
cout << "x = " << x << "\n";
x = 1;
cout << "x = " << x << "\n";
cout << "y = " << y << "\n";
x -= y;
cout << "x = " << x << "\n";
}
RESULTS:
x = 1
y = i
x = 1
x = 1
y = i
x = 1

I was under the assumption the defect report relates to the "+=" and "-="
operators as defined by muparserx for expressions submitted to muparserx. With
the new sample i can reproduce it. I've reopened the issue.

The Issue is fixed in V3.0.2; currently this version is only available via the
