Question: regarding adding content to a document about etree HOT 5 CLOSED

There is no support for this in etree. I assume your use case entails writing a large chunk of boilerplate XML?

@beevik yes I'm using it to serialize a set of xml that will have a variety of inline xml that I know nothing about (defined by the user of the application). Is this something you'd consider supporting?

I don't think an innerXML approach would be compatible with etree, because it requires a full model of the XML in order to do its queries.

But I think you can still do what you're trying to do with etree. If you're just trying to create a document initialized from hard-coded XML, do this:

doc := etree.NewDocument()
err := doc.ReadFromString(`<users/>`)

If instead you prefer to add some hard-coded XML to an existing element e in the tree, do this:

inner := etree.NewDocument()
err := inner.ReadFromString(`<users/>`)
e.AddChild(inner.Root().Copy())
