Supporting multiple shortweekday abbreviations about parsedatetime HOT 1 CLOSED

I like this change because it would now allow locales to support multiple
variations for any given day if they need it.

I was thinking that in pdt_locales.py
self.shortWeekdays = [ 'mon', 'tues', 'wed',
'th', 'fri', 'sat', 'sun',
]

could change to
self.shortWeekdays = [ 'mon', 'tue|tues', 'wed',
'thu|thur|thurs|thr', 'fri', 'sat', 'sun',
]

and then I could update the parser to suppor the new syntax.
Is there a better way to do this?
