The good news is that your build went fine.

About the missing System.map - normally the modules_install step would call depmod -A; try to run only depmod (as root) and it will most probably fix the problem.

You should try:

modprobe eoip

if for some reason this gives an error for unresolved symbols, then you should

rmmod gre

first, and then repeat the modprobe...
