Is this a problem? Usually, if your Gemfile.lock needs a different Bundler version, it would automatically install it on the first invocation.

ah, it looks like this is the case with bundler 2.3+, we are currently on 2.2 which does not [ref]

What Ruby version do you use? Ruby 3.0 already ships with Bundler 2.3. Can you share relevant WORKSPACE/Gemfile.lock parts?

We are working on migrating to 3.X, but currently some of our codebase are still on 2.X. It does sound like upgrading Ruby will resolve this issue.

I remember having similar issues and was glad that Ruby 2.7 is EOL so I don't have to worry about this anymore. If you believe that we need to work it around - let's try to find a solution that will work for older Rubies.

I suggest we close this for now since Ruby 2.7 is EOL. Let's revisit if it's needed for migration.
