After more testing: it looks like the laser will show if the enemy is really
close to me, but not if the enemy is a bit further. I would venture to say
perhaps the display is still using the low res logic and so technically, the
laser is off range so it does not display?

Yes, it seems solved in revision 615.
The only part missing is an indicator in the right side pannel (pilot screen)
to show the laser is activated, that part is missing. Otherwise, works well!

So, the code side is in order, and all that is needed is the graphics.
