Telus & Thoughtworks would be happy to share our journey and provide a demo on how we introduced Backstage into our organization (15/20min presentation)

Hi,
the standalone app has been recommended as the best option for most installations as it makes it simpler to customize the application and stay up to date with the project.
It is very easy to update packages by running yarn backstage-cli versions:bump
, however sometimes one may need/want to apply changes to the standalone app itself.
Is there any best practice to follow on structuring the standalone app customization so that it is easy to stay up to date with importing the latest changes introduced to the upstream standalone app?

@crivetechie Definitely something to talk about on a meet up! In the mean time if it helps, there is a (small) page in the documentation about that: Keeping Backstage updated.

Hi, I would be interested in hearing thoughts regarding backstage/backstage#5416 & backstage/backstage#2723
from community.
Hey folks, wondering if there are any plans to document how to work with backend plugins. Thanks!
from community.
I'd be curious to hear from other teams who have started to adopt Backstage on what Backstage plugin(s) they are focusing on first i.e. tellus focused on docs first, at Brex we focusing on the catalog and scaffolder first.
We have noticed the scaffolder was fairly quick and easy to get up and have users really enjoy the experience. But the catalog definitely takes a while to get the proper information into it and give value to end users although it gives other plugins a basis to build on top of.
Curious to hear what others are doing and what they have seen work/not work as far as best first plugins for getting adoption.
