@OrkoHunter
We would love to showcase our deployment of Backstage in Zalando if you are interested. Can you give us a time slot and we can discuss on how to do this ?

Thanks, @tonytamsf!

And sorry to everyone about the zoom bombing. We fixed the settings for this call and will do a quick retrospective on how best to format these in the future to give everyone the best experience. 🙌

We would like to discuss the current plans for backstage/backstage#3746. It would be nice to learn if you think the scaffolder v2 is ready for such a use case.

Another topic is that we plan to work toward a "Manage" or "Ownership" page as a new team/person-focused homepage (related to backstage/backstage#2752). It would be nice to exchange some ideas and requirements, and see if others in the community have plans for this.

Splunk Inc. is doing a POC of backstage for an internal developer portal, a few us will listen in.

  • A more detailed user profile: Users are able to add profile photo, location, timezone info, README about how to best collaborate with them
  • A kudos system where employees to give badges of appreciation to build a strong sense of community
  • A service catalog and automatic generation of service dependency

We would love to hear about how companies have deployed backstage on Kubernetes, or if they don't deploy using Kubernetes, how are you running your deployment?

Hi @tonytamsf, to get running out of the box, we started with ECS and Fargate in AWS, as we had templates for that sort of deployment. But k8s is our target for a prod grad deployment, but we're not quite there yet.

Thank you to the Spotify team for running a great community.

Community members, I'm sorry to see others have ruin the meeting with zoom bombing. I guess in the future:

  1. We can turn on the setting to not allow anyone to share their screen
  2. Disable anyone from turning on their mic
  3. Or turn this into a Webinar format and make individuals like @GoWind a co-host so only they can share?

Hey y'all. just wanted to call out that the meeting time was edited 9 hours ago, and we were sleep during that time and ended missing the meeting. Can we find a better way to manage invites?

We also missed the meeting because of the time change. Hopefully, the recording will be up soon

Hey @guillermomanzo and @jopamora ! That's totally my bad for writing an incorrect time here in the issue and updating it on the last day. I had created the issue before the Daylight Saving Time ended in Sweden recently, and so did a wrong conversion of time to GMT.

We'll share the recording on the issue later, but apologies that you missed it.

Also, there is a public Google Calendar that you can subscribe to, for the most reliable event updates and notifications. 🙏

Hello, We are from Amadeus labs and we started exploring Backstage for our usage. It would be great if you can elaborate the difference between a Squad and a Teams in Backstage terms.
We look forward to create a technical user which will connect to multiple components(like git, jenkins , artifactory ).
What would be the best to use in this case.

Hi, @tonytamsf we were not able to attend the last session but at Brex we also use k8s to deploy backstage. At a high level we currently have separate deployments for the Backend and Frontend apps, utilizing custom helm charts/templates. Each backend plugin service is deployed separately as well

Although I would say as we are working with backstage more and more, our deployments are evolving. We as an org are also in the process of investing in a gitops flow for deployments which may change things in the future

Hi. I work at Iress and we're trialing Backstage as well. We run multiple GH orgs (sandpit/prod etc) so are particularly interested in these two items:
feat(GithubMultiOrgReaderProcessor): implement processor to handle multi-github org ingestion
Support namespacing groups ingested via the GithubOrgReaderProcessor
Thanks and see you all there.

Hi, I am working with Tony at Splunk and would love to discuss this feature request: backstage/backstage#5382
and get everyone's thoughts on this. Thanks in advance!
