@darrenfurr and anyone else looking for Windows container support in Dev Spaces: We are interested in talking with you to better understand your scenarios. Can you reach out to me directly at [email protected]? Thanks!

Dev Spaces only works on AKS. Windows containers requires running Windows Server-based nodes and currently AKS does not support that so for now, we have no plans to support Windows. As the platform changes we will definitely reevaluate.

Thanks @YuzorMa. It does appear that Windows container support is being planned for AKS.

i am interested to use devspaces as well with windows containers. I work on Sitecore related projects and they heading towards headless and microservices based approach. I am looking to use both windows and macos dev hosts and understand how the integration would work.

Hi @rroman81, thank you for letting us know! You might already know this but Dev Spaces is being deprecated in favor of Bridge to Kubernetes which should provide similar functionality. We currently only support debugging Linux workloads but we have Windows containers on the backlog, and hearing that Windows containers are important to you helps us prioritize accordingly. If you haven't already I recommend checking out Bridge to see if it will work for you once Windows is supported, and we're all ears for any feedback or if you run into issues!

@rroman81, would you be using Windows containers for .NET core applications or full .NET framework ones?

@rroman81 Unfortunately Dev Spaces is being retired and isn't accessible to new customers right now. Bridge to Kubernetes doesn't support Windows containers yet, and if we eventually do we'll likely only support .NET Core projects, so we may not be the right tool for your project. If you do decide to assess Bridge, however, please don't hesitate to ask any questions or give feedback if you encounter issues.
