Windows support about aws-serverless-ecommerce-platform HOT 4 CLOSED

Thanks for creating an issue and that would be a nice feature to have!

I don't usually use Windows, so I'm not sure what changes would be required here. Many of the scripts are written in bash and this project uses make, which is not natively supported on Windows. Adapting these for Windows would take some efforts, plus ongoing maintenance.

I have a few questions on that topic to understand what alternatives are possible and the amount of effort required to make this work on Windows:

• Are you looking at the ability to run the scripts within cmd/PowerShell?
• What is your usual development environment (IDE used, etc.)?
• Would it be acceptable for you to use WSL?
• Would it be acceptable for you to use Docker? (this would be required to build artifacts for Lambda functions)

I have been doing mostly java development, and maven has worked on both windows & mac. I have been using intellij, however, python is new to me as well, and i am using windows since my mac is old.

Sorry, what is WSL?

WSL is Windows Subsystem for Linux, it gives the ability to run a Linux environment, with a proper Linux kernel, on Windows.

IntelliJ supports WSL, so you could stay within your preferred IDE and on Windows, but use a Linux subsystem for running the scripts.

Cannot install WSL on windows Server 2016, which i am running. I would have to get another machine for that. BTW, It would be great if there was a sample AWS app that included Angular SPA which integrated with AWS lambda . Last , nice dog!
