I have been using the TUM (github.com/tum-vision) fork (which as of today has only some motor-related changes from the original one) with the rest of the tum_ardrone stack (stateestimate, autopilot and drone_gui) without dynamic issues, using the indoor hull. I am noticing some other issues, but not in the dynamics or hover/stabilization.

Thanks for the comment. I'll try with those drivers today. I know it can't be the hardware because the frames still fly with the iPhone.

There is an ARDronoUbuntu.ova virtual machine somewhere, but I haven't used it yet. I am using the rosGroovyGalapagos.ova machine referenced in http://www.ros.org/wiki/ROS/Installation (the virtual machine with Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and ROS Groovy Galapagos pre-installed ... link) but I haven't been able to execute an apt-get upgrade without breaking ROS badly, so I am running it as downloaded, just installed the aditional packages I needed.
