More info:
When I do the image_view, looking in the terminal window where I launched the driver it displays the following information:

Further info, I removed the package and re-installed. When I ran the ". build_sdk.sh" there were a large number of warnings. Not sure if that's typical, a lot had to do with "incompatible pointer type".
The rosmake built 21 packages with 0 failures, but there were 47 compiler warnings.

Never mind, it's clearly something having to do with my VM. Not enough processing or video processing of some kind. I was able to run without problem with a regular Ubuntu install. Sorry for the trouble.
